July 2026 Athlete Of The Month
What stands out most about Sara is the commitment she's made to her fitness. She increased her attendance to three classes a week, added personal training to address her weaknesses, and consistently comes in early to put in the extra accessory work. Just as importantly, she approaches every challenge with a positive attitude. Whether she's learning a new movement or attempting a weight she didn't think she was capable of, she trusts the coaching process, gives her best effort, and never backs down. That consistency, work ethic, and willingness to step outside her comfort zone are exactly why she's our July Athlete of the Month.

What brought you to Baltimore Built? I was looking for a gym that would provide consistency. I also wanted something hard to challenge me because I have given up on the gym in the past.
How long have you been a member at Baltimore Built? Almost a year? My first class was in September 2025.
Were you athletic or involved in sports when growing up? If so, what sports and or activities did you participate in? I played soccer but did not do athletic things as a kid. I have appreciated the group coaching and personal training to help me be more physically aggressive.
Were you working out regularly prior to joining Baltimore Built? If so, what were you doing? I was a frequent hot yoga person.
Why do you workout? I work out for a few reasons. I work in a special education school full time serving 180 kids. I also work with adults in private practice. Working out helps me manage stress so I can better take care of others. I sleep better when I work out. I also like seeing the improvement in my functional fitness. I can now easily carry the cat litter down to the basement!
What is your favorite lift or movement and why? I like the snatch. There is something about trying to get under the bar quickly that is fun and hard at the same time.
What is your favorite workout or type of workout and why? I like an AMRAP that mixes up movements I am comfortable with and movements that challenge me. I also like the accessory section because it exposes you to new tools or ways of movement (like the slant board split squats!)
What have you accomplished as an athlete (big or small) during your time at Baltimore Built? Lifting amounts of weight that make my friends say, “No way! That is awesome!” Doing things that impress my husband, who has a black sash in Kung Fu.
What fitness goals do you have for the next year? I'm working on explosive movements in personal training with Dom. I would also like to be in a good place physically to run the Bay Bridge 10k in 2027.
How has your fitness influenced and/or impacted your life outside of the gym? I trust myself to do harder stuff now. I have not only survived but enjoyed workouts that I was convinced I wouldn't survive. I've learned how to listen to my body when I need to scale something and when I just have to be brave and try hard.
What hobbies and activities do you enjoy outside of the gym? I'm an avid reader (at least 52 books a year), bake sourdough bread, and hang out with my three cats!
