What brought you to Baltimore Built? I have always heard that Baltimore Built was a great gym with great trainers. I had surgery on my back and both shoulders and they have worked with me to get me back in shape. Dominic has made personalized work outs for me. I feel better and stronger now than I have ever felt before.
How long have you been working at Baltimore Built? 7 years
Were you athletic or involved in sports when growing up? If so, what sports and or activities did you participate in? I only participated in Martial Arts when I was a teen but stopped due to my work schedule. I did lift weights heavily from 14 years old up to age 18.
Were you working out regularly prior to joining Baltimore Built? If so, what were you doing? At the age of 50, I saw myself in a picture and didn’t recognize myself. I decided it was now or never. I didn’t want to think that I would be 60+ years old and wishing I had started training earlier. This is when I started working out again.
Why do you workout? I am all about health and a little on looks. With the training program at Baltimore Built, I achieve both. It’s a win win.
What are your favorite lifts or movements in the gym and why? I don’t have a favorite lift or movement. It’s a love/hate relationship. They both challenge/kill me but I love it.
What type of workouts do you like most and why? I enjoy functional strength and conditioning workouts. I have all the strength, energy and stamina required to do any activity. The training helps me in the physical type of work that I do and in life in general. How can you beat that?
What have you accomplished as an athlete (big or small) during your time at Baltimore Built? I am stronger, stamina/endurance has improved, I have lost unwanted fat while increasing muscle mass without losing much weight, which is what I wanted. At 57, I feel physically as healthy as a 30 year old.
What fitness goals do you have for the next year? As far as my fitness goals, I am very pleased where I am right now. I want to continue training as I am now and continue to improve as much as my body allows. I want to be the best I can and push my body to the maximum constantly. Never give up.
How has your fitness influenced and/or impacted your life outside of the gym? My fitness impacts my life outside of the gym in all aspects. I have confidence in every situation whether professionally with colleagues, friends and family. I have 5 kids and 2 grand kids and I would like to think they are proud of me and the discipline it takes to stay constant, both physically and in life in general. Taking care of yourself is all about discipline. That alone will take anyone a long way. Discipline is a mindset.
What hobbies and activities do you enjoy outside of the gym? I like spending time with my kids and all my family. I enjoy spending time with my 2 young nephews. I love traveling.
